OUR WORLD

Forever iconic

Sebastian Professional hair products are born from a vision of style without boundaries. We blur the lines of convention, driven by creative ambition that’s always evolving, always shaping what’s next.

Fifty years of firsts.

We’ve put innovation in the hands of stylists for over five decades—blending care, creativity, and texture to shape what's next in hair. From Cellophanes, the first color with choice, to Shaper, the first any-which-way spray. Potion 9 brought care and creativity together. Microweb Fiber took texture to extremes. Today we continue to create with stylists, for all.

Geri Cusenza and John Sebastian

L.A. stylist duo entered the 70s determined to push things further and take a generation from flower power to fearless hair fashion. Sebastian was founded on this principle of fearlessness. A thirst for innovation and changing the game has been our raison d’être from the word go. Today is no different.

A recipe for healthy hair

Sebastian invented 2+1, an original recipe of 2 parts moisture and 1 part protein, to give the hair what it needs – deep intensive hydration, combined with the power of a protein pack. Normal or damaged hair feels conditioned, silky, moisturized and healthy.

1979

Leading Hair Industry Worldwide

Sebastian was the first to capture true hair design in a resin-charged pump spray. This revolutionary styling tool created the punky, spikey, gravity-defying hair styles that the generation wanted. When it came time to name this product, nothing described it better than the unique sound it made when it was sprayed: “SHHH”. So the name “Shpritz” was born, and “Forte”was added, meaning strong.

The original working spray

Shaper hairspray was born out of a desire to free the hair from stiffness and let it move. At a show in LA, the massive can was introduced on stage as the first hairspray that can be sprayed upside down, moving the hair and lifting it. It became a name that stands for clean application, flexible volume, and brushable style. It remains today one of the most-loved styling products in the industry.

The original wearable treatment

When John Sebastian and Geri Cusenza took a trip to the Amazon rainforest, they discovered various intriguing botanicals. After bringing samples home, they were inspired to create a breakthrough formula: a magical cream-gel infused with renewable and sustainable botanical extracts. With Potion 9, Sebastian created an original category for the hair industry: wearable treatments. Even today it remains one of the most loved products in salon and at home. An all time classic.

Celebrating the millenium

The Minimallenium Collection propels us to the future. Looking for the ultimate cut, focusing on the 5 core areas of hair. Is it minimalistic? Is it futuristic? The year 2000 got us challenging the status quo and go back to the essence of hairdressing. Less clutter with more content.

First online education

With the broad development of the Internet in the beginning of the new millenium, it became suddenly possible to spread the word and get more and more stylists to experience Sebastian's unique seminars. This is how Sebastian's first online education was born, giving access to a wide audience of hair stylists to online courses on demand. Since then we continued pushing the boundaries of online education, from desktop to mobile.

Pushing limits

We create our own rules and relentlessly experiment to achieve what’s next: provocative looks, breakthrough formulas and tools, and widely unconventional techniques.

Mastery in artistry

We live at the intersection of pure artistic expression and the technical mastery to achieve it. The reward is looks that put our customers center stage.

Tribe of creators

We are a community of artists fearlessly celebrating self expression. We empower, inspire and mentor each other to push our artistry further.

Artistry in your hands

Sebastian Professional is always in pursuit of what’s next. The idea. The twist. The creative shift that reshapes how we style—and how we see. From the underground up, life has been our inspiration. For us style is more than a formula and beyond technique—it’s transformation. It opens the imagination, and gives others permission to shape their world, their way.
